The Fine Print


Visiting Friends of Guests

We do not allow any day visitors with the exception of friends of guests that are staying at the resort.  Friends may visit for the day, but are not allowed to stay overnight in the guests’ room.  Please check with the Front Desk for our day charge.


A deposit of $100 per night per accommodation up to a maximum of $500 per week is required to reserve any accommodation.


If written notice of cancellation is received 21 or more days prior to your arrival date, your deposit will be refunded minus a $25 bookkeeping charge.

Early Departures

As is the policy with most resorts, guests on all-inclusive packages who cancel part of their reservation within 21 days of arrival or depart prior to their confirmed departure date will be charged the high season daily rate for the days stayed, and will forfeit their deposit unless we are able to rent the accommodation that was cancelled.

Guests in cottages with kitchens who cancel part of their reservation within 21 days of their arrival or depart prior to their confirmed departure date will be charged for the entire length of their original reservation unless we are able to rent their accommodation for the full period reserved.

Paying For Your Stay

All rates are quoted and payable in Canadian dollars. We accept cash, travellers cheques, certified personal cheques, Visa, Master Card, American Express, and debit cards. Unless prior credit is established, we do not accept personal cheques.

US Currency

Our rates are quoted in Canadian dollars.  However, we do accept US currency at the prevailing exchange rates. The currency converter below shows the conversion rate applicable to exchanges of large amounts of currency at major world money centers, and is intended to show only the approximate conversion at any given time.  The rate we are able to receive from our local bank when we deposit US currency is generally about 2% below this rate.  The rate of exchange that we quote may change when your actual payment is made.

Rate & Policy Changes

Rates and policies are subject to change without notice and are not guaranteed until your reservation has been confirmed in writing.  Severn Lodge reserves the right to refuse or cancel any reservation without notice or cause, and if done so, will refund any deposits in full.

Pet Policy

For the comfort of all of our guests, pets are not permitted at Severn Lodge. Please inquire about nearby kennels. Guests staying at our offsite cottage Westview are welcome to bring well behaved pets as long as they are kept on a leash at all times. Owners must immediately clean up all pet waste. You will be responsible for any damage to property done by your pet.

Service Charge

We do not apply any additional mandatory fees other than the government mandated 13% sales tax (HST). Many resorts apply additional mandatory fees to leisure guest invoices.  These have names such as service charge, resort charge, resort fee, facility fee, destination fee, amenity fee, etc., and are usually an additional 10-15% of the invoice total.  The only exception to this policy is for groups such as conferences, meetings, weddings, etc.


To reward our employees for exemplary work, many are able to participate in a wage bonus program where they are rewarded at the end of their work contract based upon various performance measures agreed to prior to signing their work contract.  This allows these employees to qualify for an additional bonus above and beyond their wages.  Although employees do not expect it, many guests do ask us about leaving an additional tip or gratuity to those employees who have given them exceptional service.  We hesitate to provide any guidance and prefer to leave this decision up to you.

All Inclusive Packages

Rates for all-inclusive packages are in Canadian dollars and are per person double occupancy. They include accommodation in a lake view room, delicious meals according to the package, use of most resort recreation facilities, summer time supervised children’s activities & evening entertainment, daily housekeeping services, baggage handling, and auto parking.

In general check-in begins late afternoon on the day of arrival and check out is mid-morning on the day of departure. An early check-in or late check-out may be possible but cannot be guaranteed until the day of arrival or departure. Please check with the Front Desk on those days. Extra charges may apply.

Adult single, triple and quad occupancy rates are available upon request.  Children qualify for special rates as long as they share the same accommodation with their parents.  “Kids FREE” means one kid per adult. There is no charge for kids under 2 years.

Minimum charges apply to all 2 bedroom suites.

A 13% tax (HST) will be added to all packages.  There is no additional resort service charge added.

Cottages with Kitchens

Rates for lake view cottages or suites with kitchens are in Canadian dollars and are per suite/cottage. They include your cottage or suite, use of most resort recreation facilities, summer time supervised children’s activities & evening entertainment, and auto parking.

If there are more than 6 persons in a 3 bedroom cottage/suite or 2 persons in a studio suite an additional charge will be added to the rate. Cots & cribs are available at an additional charge. Please inquire for details and charges.
